The Canadian federal government is going through a round of consultations and draft revisions of its professional services procurement standards. One proposed change removes professional facilitators as a separate "competency" or role, embedding those activities under several other roles. An additional change sees project management skills duplicated under two areas with slightly different structures -- a wasteful and confusing situation.
PMAC president Kevin Aguanno recently submitted a letter to the PWGSC department of the Canadian government supporting a detailed submission from the Canadian branch of the International Association of Facilitators, asking the government to reinstate the earlier classification of facilitators as a separate competence/skillset and also to reexamine its representation of project management skills.
