PMAC-APMC annual General Meeting

Event Speakers

We are inviting some of the best project management speakers in the world. Just to hear these  speakers will be worth your while. They don’t come any better. In fact, one of our directors is traveling from the west coast just to see these two speakers in person. They are not to be missed.

Mr. Miles Shepherd, BSc, MAPM, MBCS, CITP, CMIPD, APMP, recently elected as IPMA Council of Delegates Chairman.
Mr Shepherd has been involved with project management in one form or another for more than 30 years, and has led a variety of projects in UK, Eastern Europe, Russia and USA. He has a background in defense, development of Information Technology strategy and the implementation of major IT projects. Qualified to Post Graduate level in computing, he moved on to develop specialized project management training for UK Government information technology staff.

Mr Shepherd's work has focused on the development of project management techniques in connection with decommissioning nuclear reactors. He has worked on decommissioning projects throughout UK and Eastern Europe. Other overseas tasks included consulting assignments at Chernobyl, Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, Bohunice A1 plant in Slovakia and as a specialist in European Standards for CEN.

Recent assignments have included support to the rail industry, business development assignments, including management of a major collaborative project for the European Commission to strengthen the accreditation capabilities in Eastern European countries, and the development of post graduate project management education in Romania.

Mr Shepherd has wide experience in professional project management societies and was instrumental in engineering the original cooperation agreement between IPMA and the Project Management Institute. He is involved in project management education and research with a number of universities in the United Kingdom and holds several visiting posts in UK and abroad. He has published numerous academic papers and has addressed many PM conferences worldwide. Mr Shepherd has been serving as Global Editorial Advisor and International Correspondent for PMForum in the UK since September 2006.

Mr Shepherd is an Associate Lecturer and research supervisor for the Open University and Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University. He also holds the honorary post of Senior Research Fellow at University College, London.

Dr. Lewis Ireland
Lew Ireland is an Executive Project Management Consultant based in Tennessee and serving both US and international clients. He has worked with clients to establish their project management systems to ensure they are supportive of the organizations’ respective goals. He is experienced in all phases of project management that include planning, scheduling, project office implementation, project maturity modeling, and project assessment.

Lew has authored or co-authored project management books and articles for professional journals. He is a continual contributor to the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management, regularly writing short articles for our website. Lew has a history of serving for nearly 25 years in volunteer positions to advance project management. He is past President and Chair of the Project Management Institute and has served in various positions within the Institute. He has been recognized by the Institute for his contributions by the Distinguished Contribution Award, Person of the Year, and elected a Fellow of the Institute.

He is currently the past President of the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm), a not-for-profit professional society dedicated to more effective project management practices.


Alex Jalalian, BSc, MBA, DBA Candidate
Alex Jalalian is a visiting lecturer at the Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France, teaching project management to part-time and full-time MBA students. He is also a First Assessor of International Project Management Association 4-Level Certification System, and has been involved in the assessment of IPMA level A, B & C candidates, and an IPMA international award assessor. He is currently the PMAC Director of Awards.

He worked for 20 years within the IT and Telecom industries in Switzerland with management assignments including software and system engineering in development, product management in marketing, program management in R&D, and strategy and marketing management in new product development.

Some of Alex’s professional highlights include software system project management where he managed a team of 5 software engineers for 8 projects ranging in duration from 3 months to a year with Ascom Hasler for Swisscom; managing a strategy and business planning project for a year; negotiation with Nortel with the aim of establishing a joint venture between Ascom and Nortel in Switzerland; managing an international team of 6 software engineers for 2 years with Ascom Hasler for Chinese Telecom PTT of Guandong and Beijing provinces; performing technology research project management at Swisscom by managing 2 major European projects for 2 years in collaboration with 6 other European Telecom firms for the R&D division of Swisscom; and as Marketing and Business Development Director for RSO Data Ltd.

Alex holds a bachelor degree in computer science with mathematics from University of London and a postgraduate degree in international management from London Business School. He is now a doctorate candidate at Grenoble, researching project management within Technology and Innovation Management. He also holds a European Excellence Assessors Diploma from the European Foundation for Quality Management. Alex is a Senior Consultant within Procept Associates Ltd, specializing in his course teaching the International Competence Baseline version 3.
