[Webinar] The Polaris Submarine Project: A Case Study Risk Management

A 60-minute webinar presented by John Byrne, author of the new book POLARIS: Lessons in Risk Management

In this intriguing 60-minute webinar, author John Byrne presents the fascinating case study of the project that launched the space age -- and the nuclear arms race.  The Polaris project was initiated to design a new  nuclear missile and a submarine that could approach a target undetected and then launch the missile while submerged for a zero-warning attack.  The results of this successful project transformed geopolitics for decades to follow.

In addition to the amazing military innovations produced by this project, there were some very interesting project management inventions as well.  In an environment of very high levels of technical risk (people were not even sure if the deliverables were possible to create), political risk, and resource risk, the project team had to find a way to deliver a novel solution quickly, to ward off a preemptive attack by the Soviets.  Using this project as a case study, participants will learn the basic steps to a sound risk management process while also learning advanced techniques such as PERT that were invented for the Polaris project.

PMPs will earn 1 PDU for attending this event.

Members of the Project Management Association of Canada (PMAC) and the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (ASAPM) will receive a $10 discount by registering using the link below.
